Sorry, but no real homepage
here. I've decided not to continue working on Silence Homepage and put all my effort
to building a website for an ambitious music project called X-Ray that I've recently
founded. Our URL will be www.x-ray.cz
but should be up not before March 99, possibly even later (it will be designed by a pro,
unlike this piece of junk you're reading right now :o)). Project X-Ray is a
gathering of independent musicians mostly from the Czech Republic but international
members are welcome as well. It was founded with the intention to give electronic
musicians a better chance to assert themselves. We have lots of ambitions and want
to achieve a few things. We might release a CD of our own within two years or so.
Silence is Pavel M. Cerny a.k.a. Twilite and Jan
Chlupacek a.k.a. Spectre. We come from Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic and
also one of the most beautiful cities in the world, a city with the highest amount of
historic sights anywhere on Earth.
Even though there's no real homepage
here, you can still download our latest song, "A Step to the Stars" (the link is
near to the bottom of this page). It is definitely our best song so far.
You won't believe but it took us more than ninety (92!!!) hours to complete this
one. I estimate that a good half of the total time we spent being stuck somewhere,
trying to develop new ideas or just wasting time composing something we did not include in
the final version at last.
In this song we tried to focus on melody. A great main motif was our primary objective and, in my opinion, we did succeed. This isn't yet another song with loads of electronic stuff, fast loops or anything. We wanted to make this one sound as real as possible (though the quality of the samples did not permit us to reach the limits) and that's why we used real instruments only (well, their electronic substitutes, that is). The lead instruments are saxophone, clarinet and guitar supported by violin, acoustic guitar, bells, bass, strings and, of course, drums.
Also, we didn't want our latest creation to be boring or monotonous. For this very reason we made it very variable, constantly developing itself.
As I've indicated before, the quality of some instruments isn't as hish as I would wish. That's especially true for the main instrument, saxophone, unfortunately. Nevertheless, a high-quality version is coming. It will be composed using professional software (CakeWalk Pro Audio v8.0 just to name one) and hardware. It should be out this summer and will be available on the X-Ray Homepage. So stay tuned...
One last note: this song is dedicated to Emilee Hoover, the most wonderful girl I've ever met and my bestest female friend. I LUV YA, BABE!
OK, now the links:
"A Step to the Stars" by Silence - MP3 version (recommended) |
5572 kB | download |
"A Step to the Stars" by Silence - IT version (lower quality) | 2149 kB | download |
WinAmp v2.08 - MP3 player | go to WinAmp homepage for latest version | download |
ModPlug Player v1.39.03 - IT player | go to ModPlug homepage for latest version | download |
Also, you'll need RAR archiver in order to be able to decompress the downloaded files (it's similar to WinZip but sports with a lot better compress ratio, which is especially true for multimedia files), just click here to get it.
If you think that the size of the song is too big for you to download, just get GetRight v3.3.1 here, an awesome utility that lets you pause a download in progress and resume, for instance, next day. In other words, you don't have to download our songs at once but you can, say, download a few dozens of kilos while you're checking your e-mail box every day, for example. Also you don't have to worry about being disconnected from the server since GetRight will automatically resume downloading from the last position--you can save yourself lots of money for phone calls this way if that's your case.
